“Creation-Science: Is Genesis for Real?” — In 10-12 weeks, children discover the answers to some of life’s biggest questions: Did God create our world or did it simply evolve? Did it happen in six literal days? When did the dinosaurs live on the earth? Was there really a world-wide flood? Were there dinosaurs on Noah’s Ark? How big was this boat anyway and how many animals did it hold? Children will experience several hands-on, simulative activities ranging from digging for dinosaurs bones to viewing rock layers in the Grand Canyon to identifying specific details about an animal’s anatomy and the necessity for survival. It’s all age-appropriate and a great deal of FUN! Much of the content for this series comes from Answers in Genesis out of Petersburg, Kentucky. You can discover more information by viewing their website designed both for adults (www.answersingenesis.org) and for kids (www.answersingenesis.org/kids).

“Sword Fighting:  Power of the Word of God”—is a one year overview of what it means to be a child of the King. Focus is given toward the Armor of God in the Fall and the Ten Commandments in the Spring. The lives of three kings serve as the basis for this series from September through November. Children will discover the good and the bad about the character and choices of King Saul, King David, and King Solomon. In the Spring, children will follow the journey of Moses from his brief moments in the Nile to a Pharaoh’s throne room in Egypt to the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness and his final brief moment on a mountain overseeing the Promised Land. Focus is given on the meaning behind the Ten Commandments given to us by God and the importance these serve in the living out of our daily lives.

“Treasure Island Expedition” is a one-year Bible overview covering 10-12 major stories of the Old Testament in the Fall and 12-15 major stories of the New Testament in the Spring. Children will learn the highlights of the Bible timeline from 4000BC to 100AD, as well as major cities and regions on a Bible lands map. Children will gain a picture of “His-Story” through the eyes of God. They will see His hand at work through the lives of His people and how that timeline extends through us today. Children will experience much of the details of these stories through a dramatic role play of Bible people. They will discover historical background information about the text: archaeological details about the wall around Jericho, chariot wheels in the bottom of the Red Sea, and of scientific discoveries of a day in history when the sun stood still. Children will uncover this information in some meaningful, hands-on activities that will bring the Bible content to life. The goal of this study is for children to be convinced of the realities of Scripture and of God’s movement in our world.

Every Wednesday evening from September to December and January to April, kids meet from 6:30pm to 8:00pm to explore the truths of God’s Word and its place in our world. Children participate in worship and drama, Bible memory games, art activities, and large group games.

We cover four different themes:

“Light Your World” is a 13-week emphasis on what’s happening in God’s Kingdom around the world. Kids visit 15 different countries, experience their culture, and discover what is happening to reach these people groups for Christ. Kids sample foods, play games typical of that country, create an art project reflective of the culture, and learn about the country and its missionaries.
